Now in beta on Google Play

Get better at a language by using it.

Lngual is a language exchange app for practising with native speakers.
Post, message, meet up, and translate anything you don’t follow yet.

  • Your languages

Spoken and learning, with your level in each

  • Meetups

Create or join — each one gets a group chat

  • Android

    In beta on Google Play

How it works

From a profile to people you talk to.

You don’t need to be fluent, or anywhere close. Set up a profile, say what you’re learning, and start talking to people who already speak it.

  1. Step 1. Say what you’re learning

Your profile carries the languages you speak, the ones you’re learning, and how far along you are in each — plus a bio, your country, and what you’re into.

  2. Step 2. Post, reply, get replies

Your feed is shaped by your languages, your country, and what you actually do in the app, so the people in it are the ones worth practising with.

  3. Step 3. Take it further

Move a good thread into direct messages, or find a meetup near you and turn it into a conversation in person.

What’s inside

Made for conversation, not flashcards.

  • A feed that fits you

Posts, comments, replies, and reactions, ordered around the languages you speak, the ones you’re learning, and where you are. Follow who you want more of, block anyone you don’t.

  • Meetups with a group chat

Create an event or join one from the nearby map, and every event comes with its own chat so the plan is sorted before anyone turns up.

  • Messages and voice notes

Direct messages with photos when you need to show something, and voice messages when typing won’t carry the pronunciation. Send a gift when someone helps you out.

  • Translation on demand

Tap to translate a post or a private message. It only runs on the thing you tap, only when you ask, and the result can be kept on your device.

  • Progress you can see

Learning progress, experience points, streaks, and achievements — so the practice you put in is visible even on the days it doesn’t feel like much.

  • Profiles worth reading

A photo, a background image, a gallery, your interests and your country, next to the languages you speak and the ones you’re working on.

On-demand translation

Translated when you ask. Not before.

Lngual doesn’t quietly translate your conversations in the background. You tap translate on the one post or message you want, and the result can be cached on your device so the same text doesn’t have to go anywhere twice.

  • Works on posts and private messages
  • Runs only on the item you tap
  • Results can be cached on your device

Say your first sentence badly.

That’s how it starts — and Lngual is in beta on Google Play now, with the people already using it shaping what comes next.
